Recover overwritten harddrive

I I have accidentally reformatted and reinstall win7 on the same partition of my PC without backing up the data on the desktop. Any software that could recover some files from the previous desktop??

Recuva in advanced scanning mode might be able to recover some files. You will have to use advanced mode to scan for possible sector links. This takes QUITE a while and won't recover file names. You'll have to manually go through results to see what might be recoverable.
