Hello guys, i bought a GTX 1050 To to my HP Compaq 8300 and even though it didn't have the correct PSU power to handle it, it had been working pretty good! It had been about 1 year since I bought that graphic card to that computer...

But now I want to buy another graphic card, but for this one to my HP Prodesk 490 G1 Microtower... My small question is will a GTX 1060, 6GB fit in that computer? Specifically, this one: https://www.amazon.com/GeForce-Dual-fan-Gaming-Graphics-DUAL-GTX1060-O6G/dp/B01JHQT1SE

Thank you! :)

Solution
With the standard PSU it won't work, 300W isn't enough.

Also, max GPU length is 6.6", that 1060 is over 9" long, so it won't fit length-wise.

In data sheet the length is 11.7 or 242mm, psu requirement would be 450W to stay safe.

Slightly failed on the unit conversion here, but it's too long nevertheless :p

The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Mini ITX is only 170mm long. I leave the conversion to you this time :D
If you have 175mm clearance there is the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Aero ITX 6G
Stronger cards would overheat. If you plan to spend $300 for a new GPU, do not spare another 50-60 to replace the PSU as well!

Wait, so can i replace the PSU on this computer? I do know that's very hard to change the PSU on the HP 8300, but is it possible to change the PSU on this computer? :/

What do you mean about stronger cards would overheat? Would one of these graphic card overheat since they only have 1 fan? :)

I coudln't find any official info about the PSU form factor for this PC. I did however find a replacement PSU for it on Amazon that states it has the standard ATX form factor. If we believe in that, any standard ATX PSU will fit.

For your needs, I'd recommend the Super Flower Golden Green HX 450W.

But will a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Mini ITX or a there is the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Aero ITX 6G work on the computer without buying a new PSU? Or will it just damage the computer? :)

Aww dammit! Hmm let say that I don't buy a PSU and only use the one I have today. Which best graphic card, that is better than GTX 1050 Ti, can I get that will work on the computer? I'm after a Nvidia card :)
