[strike][/strike]I have an i5 4570 and it's current motherboard is from HP and it is limiting my upgradability from it's BIOS. By upgradability, I'm talking about GPU since that motherboard is set to accept only a particular GPU.

There are barely any new lga 1150 motherboards in my country and if I find one, it's cost is equivalent to $100 for an h81m board... Going used, I can find the same motherboard for $40.

How to know if the motherboard is working in full order if I decide to go on the used route? (What to look out for etc)

I want to spend as little as possible because I am still a student and have a pretty tight budget.

Your 4570 is not overclockable. You don't have a lot of upgradeability. The payoff does not equal the risk of buying used(no warranty). I would not do it.

Used MOBO is usually a problem as you need to test literally every connector/function. If you can buy it locally, like seeing working PC with this mobo and then dismantle it with owner, then should be ok. This become harder online where you will buy and it will work at first look, but will have some problems (like fried network) you will not expect and find after a month or 2

I think this CPU would give me atleast 2 more years since I don't do productivity and if I'm correct, increasing the resolution would make a game more GPU bound.

I only have $400 budget in total and I have to buy other parts too since my prebuilt has crap components... I want to allocate as much budget to the GPU as possible.

Get the GPU first before considering upgrading the CPU as the 4570 may still be enough and your correct about the resolution with the GPU.

In this video it is seen that my i5 4570(the video shows i5 4460 but it performs same as the one I have) can keep up with a ryzen 3 1200 which is more than enough for me. Keeping my current CPU will save me alot of cash right now since the ram's price is nuts. I am not an enthusiast gamer so I don't mind lower performance.

I thought about building a brand new PC before and looked for r3 1200 so I am contended with my CPU performance. The only difference is the ram.

BTW: As I said I can't put a GPU in my current motherboard because it locks it out so I have to buy another one.
