Without getting into too much detail, I'm seeing some behavior that is very confusing. Using Civilzation 6 as a benchmark, most often everything runs @ 55C or lower without anything else running. Sometimes however, the chipset on the MB next to the CPU will run @ 80C +. This is immediately resolved by restarting the PC, the temp is back to 55C avg while playing the game. Any ideas on what's causing this?

System Specs
Windows 10 Home V 10.0.16299
MB - Gigabyte GA-970A-D3
CPU - AMD FX -8350
GPU - NVidia GTX 750Ti

Thanks Zerk. I read that 80C isn't too bad but it starts emitting a burning chemical smell around that point. It's just weird to me that is goes 80+ occasionally and continues to be problematic until I reboot, or change the graphics settings. Inexplicably (at least in my ignorance) changing the graphics settings in Civ 6 from low to ultra actually results in a lower temperature on that MB sensor.
