Custom Fan Curve

Just as a quick bit of clarification, I do not have any overheating issues. I'm interested to know if setting a custom fan curve for a GPU so the fans aren't off ever, is bad? I'd assume that eventually they're more prone to go out, and I am not a person who really cares about the nose of my GPU. I am currently using the Asus Strix 1080, and I've had a custom fan curve for a while, I noticed my Idle Temps were nice and chilly but were getting a bit too low for comfort, on air they were going as low as 18-20 C, which I wasn't sure if on Air could create condensation.

What exactly I am trying to ask is, when I create a fan curve does it do any damage to the card and fans to keep them running 20%-30% all the time?

You definitely wouldn't want your fan to only be running at 30 percent. During gaming sessions you'd want it to be at least at 70 to 80 percent.
You also want to prevent your gpu from downclocking once it reaches it's temp limit. A proper fan curve will prevent this

I think OP is asking if it is bad to run the fans at low speed when the GPU idles instead of shutting off like the default curve. It might cause marginally more wear on the fan but it is more likely the GPU will reach the end of its useful life before the fans fail.

lol my bad. I was kinda confused of what he was asking.
Ya you would need an upgrade before your fans would wear out. Plus most companies have a 3 year warranty.

Well I ask because I wasn't sure if keeping them running at 30% percent instead of shutting off is going to decrease the life very quickly of the fans or not.

Your fans should be fine. You hopefully have a 3 year warranty with your card. # years from not you'll probably want to upgrade anyways.
