Hello,

I have a desktop computer where it is unable to boot unassted. When I boot the computer it does not boot from the correction location (or something) and I get a white dash flashing. I have to go into the BIOS during boot up and tell it to boot windows from the correct HDD.

I have set the BIOS to boot from that HDD, however that does not work.

I want to flash the BIOS to attempt to fix this issue.
Is that fact that it can't boot unassisted going to be an issue for flashing the BIOS?
Or is it safe for the BIOS to be flashed?

Thank you for any information!

Well, I would probably do the following:

1) Back up your data to a separate device like a flash drive
2) Select which drive is going to be your boot drive; either the 500GB or the 1TB drive.
3) Format both drives.
4) Shut down the computer and clear CMOS.
5) Remove the drive that will NOT be the boot drive.
6) Perform a clean install of the OS.
7) Test the boot process to see if it's clear of issues.
8) If so, reinstall the secondary drive.
