So I can get either of these with the mobo for pretty much the same price around $300 but which one is the better deal?

Solution
depends. the 5820k is most cases is faster than the r5 1600... especially if you consider overclocking. you probably can get ddr3 cheaper than ddr4 but if memory throughput is important for your use then ddr4 has an advantage. that said, if you are just going to run a basic budget system though the r5 1600 is probably better in the long run since you can upgrade the cpu to as high as an r7 1800x or future am4 socket cpus which are going to be faster. i would go with the ryzen over haswell at this point.
