Im new to networking and would like to start building my own home network lab so that i can start experimenting on my own and have the equipment to recreate my certification learning scenarios in my house. with that said i dont know very much about cisco routers and switches and would like to know what models would be the best to star with. I would be looking to add on to the setup later for my ccna and beyond. I am also looking at purchasing a refurbished cto server from savemyserver.com that i can do vms on to simulate multiple servers (Active directories, Dhcp,dns,ect) and or clients and a patch panel so i get the practice of that in as well. i would like this to be in the ballpark of like 400-500$ in all, and then i can expand on it later. if i can i want to fit it all on a small Desktop Open Frame 2 Post Rack probably 12U or of a general same size. I will make my own cables so no need for the cost of cables
