I’ve recently got a new pc but I used my old hard drive and ssd with os installed on it, my specs are
I7 7700k
Deepcool 120ex captain cpu cooler
Gtx1080ti ftw3
16gb ram hyperx
850w psu
Gigabyte z270 mobo

I didn’t do a fresh install of Windows and when I play games such as rainbow six siege my cpu hits temps of 85-95 and today it hit 99... just after some input as to what could be the problem thanks

Solution
That cooler is not really sufficient for a 7700k, you need a 240mm AIO to be good. Secondly you are just asking for poor performance by not doing a OS reinstall, OS reinstall are pretty mandatory when switching Motherboards.

You need to go read on the big boy forums, hardforum.com Intel did a crap job and a delid is a good cheap way to cool your cpu.

It's also a good way to break a cpu and should only be done by someone who understands the risks and is willing to take them. It's also not necessary in most cases as not everybody overclocks.

I also suggest you watch how you talk to others or you may find yourself no longer welcome here.

Yes it is a cheap way, but its also a way to screw up your stuff. I have a 7700k and with a Noctua NH d15 an well below 70 degrees always. Delidding is a last stage step. If you want to void the warranty and potentially break your chip, that's your right but recommending it for a overheating issue is not good advice.

@OP, https://hardforum.com/threads/intel-kaby-lake-i7-7700k-cpu-de-lid-re-lid-results-h.1922872/

You may want to read on that forum. Sometime you just get a cpu that was put together poorly and needs a delid.
