Not sure if I need PCI slot or what. Here are my specs. I'm looking for a $200 ish GPU. I guess once I know what type I need I can just do a quick search for 'best GPU under $200' but I'll take suggestions for the GPU if you want to. I don't need the GPU aimed at any particular game, I just want an all around good $200 ish GPU.

Windows 8.1
SSD drive
16 BG RAM
Intel i7-4790K (NOT overclocked and I never will Overclock it, I don't want to mess anything up for a ~%6 performance increase). Stock cooler on the CPU. Should I upgrade the heatsink too?

Motherboard is GIGABYTE Z97-HD3 LGA 1150 rev 2.0

I don't have anything plugged into the available slots (PCI?) on the motherboard. I don't have a GPU, just the intel HD Graphics 4600 built into the CPU.

PSU is a EVGA supernova 650 Watt G2 80 plus Gold. I don't have anything extra plugged into this either. The PSU has a bunch of VGA modular cable in the box still, they're 6 prong with a dangling 2 prong next to it, so 6 or 8 prong I guess.
THANK YOU!

Since your motherboard has a PCI-Ex16 expansion slot, it will take any PCI-Ex16 expansion card. Unfortunately due to the high demand for graphic cards from crypto-currency miners, the prices of decent GPUs have skyrocketed. What you might get for around $225 new would normally cost around $120

Your best bet in that price range is likely to be a GTX 1050Ti / RX 560.

Get a GTX 1050 Ti as you might be able to find one for a good deal below $200. And it will last you comfortably for more than a year if you want to upgrade later down the road.

Thanks, everyone is saying get the 1050, on another forum I posted this also said get 1050. Someone linked this and said buy it asap. I bought it.

It was plus $15 because I'm one of the states Newegg charges tax, so it was $235 total. Did I still get a decent deal? How much would this cost if prices weren't raised? How much better of a GPU could I have gotten for $235 if prices weren't raised? Doesn't look like prices will lower so I bought it now anyway.

When I copy paste the name:
MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti DirectX 12 GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready ATX Video Card

it shows so many different ones in the search results. There are so many "1050" GPUs. This one's 4GB though.

That's actually a 1050 Ti which is stronger than a 1050.
And by the current state of things it is a decent deal in your region.

In June/July I purchased a GTX 1060 3gb for $190. back then, $235 would have almost gotten you a GTX 1060 6gb. This mining craze has got to stop :( Heres price trends for current video cards

couple quick questions,

Stupid Question, but This GPU needs no external power?, just the PCI slot powers it?

I've had ~$150 GPUs in the past that are probably only worth $20 today but they did need a big power cable from the PSU which tells me they must be pretty good, but I don't see anywhere on the GPU to plug in PSU power, and there's no mini 3/4 pin power cable already attached to the GPU which I've seen on some newer GPUs that look like a 120mm case fan-to-motherboard connector.

There's no port on the motherboard that I need to run another cable to from the PSU? (I don't even see such a port available but just wondering why/how this GPU doesn't have any power besides the PCI slot).

I plugged it in and the fans spin, but then I took it out to triple check if there's a power cord that was tucked away in it but there's nothing. I left the new GPU out for now because I need an HDMI cable.

Lastly, since I'm not going to Overclock the GPU, could I have gotten a better deal on a non-overclock'able GPU?

I got this GPU:
