hey yo! first time here ;) as you see by the title i buy a new hard disk WD 2T.B is this hard disk new or? another question. there is a sticker sign written (wiped) what does it mean؟ last i want to know to what it mean.. this enterprise storage...

hope for the best..
;) many thanks! ..Much Love!!

Solution

"Enterprise" drives generally have a few different features.
Better warranty. 5 yrs vs 2 or 3 yrs.
Firmware to combat heat and vibration from being in close proximity to other drives.
Robust error correction.

Greater reliability, but you pay extra for this. If buying new.

Leave those jumpered pins alone. That is for factory use. Not you and I.

The original warranty was 5 years.

And evidenced by it running out in 2015.

You bought a refurbished drive. Yes, it was used before.

It was manufactured in 2010.
The 5 year warranty ran out in 2015.
It has been "wiped", by someone.
You purchased it with a 1 year warranty.

Ergo, it is not a "new" drive.

Running CrystalDiskInfo may or may not give us more info on this.

A brand new never been used before drive would not have a sticker on it "wiped".
Who put it on there? Completely unknown.

It has a 1 year warranty (from who?) i bought it from a shop and i have 11 months warranty like i said previously

You get a "new" drive by doing your research.
If the info from WD says it is supposed to have a 5 year warranty (it does), and you are only getting a 1 year warranty...that is an indication of Not New.
If it was manufactured 8 years ago, that is another indication.
If it has a sticker on it that says "wiped", that is another indication.
Lastly, where did you buy it from? Did it say "New Never Used"? Or something else?

That may or may not show all the previous usage.
If it does, that is a sure indicator.
If it does not, that may just mean that it has been actually been reset by some internal WD tools.
