Hi. I am helping my son with a self build and which has gone mostly well. We have recently upgraded our ram which has slowed the performance of the PC

Our system is a MSI z97 gaming 7 motherboard. i5 4460 cpu. 2gb 1030 Asis graphics card. Original ram: 2 x corsair pro 2133mhz 4gb. 2 x corsair 2133mhz 4gb. New ram: 2 x corsair pro 2133mhz 4gb. 2 x corsair pro 2400mhz 8gb.

Since we've installed the two 8gb sticks the performance has dropped.

Is this due to a problem with the ram or a setting on the motherboard bios?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would try installing only the 2 x 8GB pair and then running the free version of memtest86+ from HERE.

It isn't the best idea to mix different speed memory, but if you do you must run all sticks at the speed of the slower sticks, the timings of the slowest set, and the voltage of the highest set to insure that they can all work together -- also insure that you install them in the correct banks -- they will not be next to one another but alternate.
When you try them all run memtest again -- you should get zero error when running several passes through.
