I have a monitor that can go to 144hz native and 180hz overclocked but right now it is only letting me use 60hz. I tried to go out and buy a display port but when i went to plug it in i realized i had one this whole time. When i go to the nvidea control panel it is telling me that my connector is HDMI-HDTV I figured that if i changed that then i would be able to up the hz but i dont know how. Can someone tell me if this will help or if
i need to do something else. I tried to just unplug the hdmi and only keep the display port in but then my monitor wont connect to the PC. Please Help.

What make and model monitor?

Do you have the User Guide/Manual?

May be a matter of using the monitor's menu screens to pick the port, hz, etc. to be used....

And please remember to try another known working cable for the PC <--> Monitor connection being used.
