Hi. i am playing Watch dogs 2 with a 1080 gtx 8gb msi, i7-4790k cpu, asus b85m-g mobo, RM 750x corsair psu and 2*8 kingston 1600mhz ram. On ultra preset i am hitting an average of 60 fps constantly but in some areas of the map i hit 50-60 and sometimes down in the 40s (35-40 very rarely). i have tried to play with my settings and it seems geometry and shadows hit hard and with them both set to high i never hit under 50 fps.

When the game goes under 60 fps my game stutters a little for a brief second while it adjust to the new fps. I don't know if this is normal when a game goes under 60fps as i have never noticed it before. It doesn't do this when it goes up to 60fps again. This made me think that maybe vsync had some say in it too, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with it.

Is this normal for this cpu? I know Watch Dogs 2 is known for using alot of cpu but this much? on such a good cpu? And by the way, what settings in this game would you recommend for my rig?

Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you!

Solution

It's a bad port and will have issues no matter the hardware.
