My computer has an Asus h110m-e/m.2 motherboard. Its been bugging me ever since I first realized I messed up with motherboards.(thought I could OC on any board) Is it worth getting a z170 so I can actually take advantage of the chips full potential ? Or is there to many potential problems with a person who doesn't know much about switching motherboards ?

I would say overclocking is even more problematic then swapping motherboards, so if you are scared of the latter, you might as well give up already. But if you are open to learning, have time to watch lots of youtube materials or ask here questions before you do something wrong (yes, there are things that can easily fry your new motherboard if you do things wrong way, like not changing standoffs positions to accommodate new board setup), and you have a cooler that can handle OC (or can buy such), there is nothing wrong with trying better motherboard. Just notice that swapping mobo alone will not give you better performance at all, unless the old one was causing your CPU to thermally throttle (very unlikely) - you will need to do the OC...
