Good day to you all..i am thinking of replacing my current gpu gtx 1060 6gb to rx 580 8gb..
My current specs:
Ryzen 1600
Br50 msi tomahawk
16gb ddr4 2400mhz adata xpg dazzle
Power supply corsair vs550.

Is there going to be a problem if i switch to rx580 8gb?

Solution

There will be no compatibility or bottleneck issues whatsoever.

But unless your GPU is defective there isn't really any reason to change it to an RX 580.

In terms of gaming, both perform roughly the same. The 1060 performs better in games like The Witcher 3, Mafia 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider etc. while the 580 performs better in games like Wolfenstein 2, DOOM, The Division, Hitman etc. Never is the margin greater than by more than 5-7%. However, the 580 will consume more...

agreed with others. No real performance difference in games but you get better power efficiency from 1060. Just overclock your 1060 and get more performance.

Side note on overclocking though, assuming you have a 1060 that takes a power connector then when overclocking make sure to go into settings of afterburner and tick mark the unlock voltage and unlock voltage monitoring options. then slide the voltage bar all the way full and set your power and temp options to max the proceed with your clock speed increases. Setting the voltage bar to max will ensure that you get the proper overclock performance from adjusting your clock speeds. setting it to max will not hurt anything since with the 10 series cards setting it to max just increases it's max possible voltage and the GPU will only use what it needs and will not use more than it knows is safe. the meter in no way indicates that you are forcing that much extra voltage into it so it is safe.

In terms of Mining, if you are interested in that, then RX 580 is significantly superior to the 1060 with a better Hash Rate and has been the go to card for many small time or casual miners.

Yeah, both the 1060 6GB and 580 8GB offer very similar gaming performance. And right now, due to a shortage caused in part by cryptocurrency mining, all these cards cost way more than they normally should, so upgrading from a GTX 1060 to anything probably wouldn't be worthwhile at the moment, unless you are willing to waste a lot of money spending far over retail.
