I'm currently using SolusOS distro and before tried many others and always had the same problem with the audio.

Everytime I want to watch a movie or listen to music I just switch to Windows due to very poor sound output.

Here's the thing, my headphones are connected through an external USB sound card ( ASUS Xonar U3) and when I go to the settings, I have two audio outputs, being them:
- Digital Output (S/PDIF) - Xonar U3 sound card
- Analog Output - Xonar U3 sound card

Now, if I choose Digital Output (S/PDIF) the sound isn't very clear when both on low and high volumes, I notice very distorted sound mainly on heavy bass music or explosions.

If I choose Analog Output it's loud as hell on 25% if I reduce 1% then the sound cuts out.

Another thing I noticed was that adjusting Analog Output volume it also affects the volume that comes through Digital Output, meaning having the first one at 25%, the 100% of the latter will be quiet and having Analog on 100%, the Digital output 100% will be loud as hell.

Is this a "feature" on Linux distro's? Also, there's one simply damn equalizer that just works?
