I got 2x4gb of RAM advertised 2400mGhz. I got the 3 shorts beeps on boot up. Went into BIOS. Both sticks posted. However, one shown at 2133 and the other was at 2400. I restarted PC took out one stick, got no beeps. Repeated steps with other stick. This time I got the three beeps. Does this mean that the stick is bad or incompatible, even though they are the same brand and everything?

Edit: Ram is not showing different speeds. but one stick is still causing the 3 beeps on boot.

The beep codes depend on the motherboard manufacturer.

Did you buy the RAM modules from the same retail pack, or did you just buy 2 seperate sticks, not boxed together, that are the same brand and model? Even using the same brand/model is not covered by RAM retailers as their manufacturing methods can change, meaning there is no guarantee that 2 sticks of the same model will work together. But there is a guarantee that 2 sticks from the same pack will work together.

If it is the same stick every time, then I would suggest it is a faulty stick and RMA it.

So, I actually found out that it was a faulty stick. I took both of them out and took turns placing them in DIMM 1 and it was only one of the sticks. I have already sent them back and order new RAM.

Also to answer your question a RAM that came in a set, and I was just misreading the BIOS. I was reading the profiles instead of the DIMM slots.
