Hi,

I have been confused by this issue and I have seen others with the same problem that it might be that my BIOS RAM settings are set to auto. What settings should I set them to?

I have a HP OMEN 870-244 pc with 16b of ram and 2 open slots. It is upgradable to 32gb.

I purchased another 8gb stick to get 24gb of ram. it is a Ballistix BLS8G4D2240FSC - 2400MHZ , 1.2V. and according to crucial this would work.

When I install the ram, I do see 24gb in settings, but then after a restart (or two) it always reverts back to 16gb. What gives?

the factory ram is model MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G3B1

Any help is appreciated!

Mike.

Solution
Crucial says the stick will work with your system, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will work with your existing RAM. If your new stick didn't come with your old ones then system instability can occur. The chance of issues increases if you mix and match RAM that is completely different brands. Trying the new RAM in another slot may help.
