My laptop suffered a BSOD that I skipped by powering off completely. Afterwards, my laptop's CPU fan stopped working, but it still boots up.

I opened it up (which I regret because I basically voided the warranty), and when I powered the laptop on, the CPU fan twitches ever so slightly.

Currently, I'm using the laptop with the CPU on low so the temps reach around 55-65°C, so it's usable. Obviously, it's a lot slower, so I still want to get it fixed. The laptop is 6 months old.

Things I've tried:
- Blowing some of the dust out of the fan.
- Pressed the connector down on the pins to make sure it's securely connected

Any ideas?

You can try contacting MSI but like you said, your probably voided the warranty. The only other thing i can say is find the part number of the fan and replace it or try to test the wires attached to the fan for current running through them.

I would say they would be able to help, but I do believe if you haven't voided your warranty by opening up, you will void the warranty taking it to a shop. I would see if you voided the warranty already, and if so then take it to a shop. But hopefully MSI can help you first.

Well, the warranty sticker that blocked a screw to access the back is ruined. But I'll try to call them first, see what they say. If not, I'll take it to the shop.

If anyone else has any suggestions that might help me fix it myself, please post.
