4 Pin to 2x 3 Pin Splitter not detecting microphone input.

After doing research, I found the only way I can use my Bose in-ear headset with my computer was to buy a 4 pin to 2x 3 pin splitter. Now, the Bose headset is a 4-pole headset with a mic that has 3 buttons (apple style.) My desktop has separate audio/mic jacks, which I plugged the appropriate male jacks into.

These are my headphones.

This is the splitter I bought.

The main issue seems to be that the desktop will pick up that I have a microphone plugged in, however the only input it detects from the microphone is when one of the buttons on the headset is pressed, but it only detects the button--it doesn't even treat it as a mute/unmute function. Is there any solution to this with the current setup, or do I need to procure another set of headphones?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Solution
Since Bose doesn't reveal any info at all about how they are constructed, except that they should work with some Apple products, and since Apple never has followed any specs except for their own, there really is no valid info at all.
Should you want to use them with any non Apple product (the vast majority of products) you are on deep water and shouldn't have bought them in the first place.
Put on a board, inside a frame, they may look like a piece of art though.

I was afraid of that. Headset entirely works with the phone I have (samsung), except for the buttons, which don't work at all, heh. So much for buying the adapter so I could have a cheap solution to my headset woes. I'll just have to grab those hyperx cloud II's I've been wanting.
