so every now and then my pc will warn me that i am about to be logged of and the machine will shut down, about 10 seconds pass and, as it said, i was logged out and the pc shuts down. no updates, no programs being installed, nothing.

and yes i checked for malware and viruses, my pc is clean. and i have checked my power settings and everything like sleep and screen shut down is set to never and it is currently in "high performance" mode"

after going through some event logs i can across this little nugget of info: "The kernel power manager has initiated a shutdown transition.

Shutdown Reason: Kernel API"

help would be very much appreciated

thanks in advance

ok small update on this... not that anyone has an answer yet :S

i was monitoring the pc using a combination the resource manager and corsair link.

corsair link showed nothing on the temp side of things all well within normal range (high 20s-low 30s)

but the resource manager showed me something interesting. when windows pops up with the message that i am about to be signed out, everything on my pc all spiked up to near 100% usage (cpu, gpu, disk's 1-3, ram and even ethernet)

still no idea what is causing this and im not even sure if the above experiment is even worth anything, maybe that is what its supposed to do idk :S

again, any help is appreciated

thanks

Dan

p.s. i also found out that this never happens as long as the pc is doing something such as games or video playback, but it will do it if im just listening to music or i go to long on the internet without refreshing a page or being somehow active, and it will always happen after approximately 3-5 mins sometimes as low as 2mins, if im not doing anything, without fail.
