I am looking to buy an Alienware Aurora w/ specs:

i5-8400 (4.0 GHz)
Windows 10 Home
850 Watt
GTX 1080
16 GB DDR4-2666Hz
256GB M.2 + 1TB HDD
1 Yr Premium Support
1 Yr McAfee Subscription

For $1,592.

I was holding out on the price of RAM/GPUs to drop but I don't know if the end is in sight and I really want to get a gaming pc since I scrapped my old one.

Solution
That' basically MSRP for those parts, and fairly well balanced. (GTX 1080s still roughly go for $1000 retail, and the rest of that system costs quite a bit more than the $500 left over)

I'd be somewhat surprised if the mobo it comes with can use ram that fast, but if it does that's a good sign.

The PSU aint gonna be great, but that's not surprising.

The specs check the boxes of the "good for gaming" list at least.

You won't be disappointed.

I'm assuming that all prebuilt computers are this way, even the ones from MSI etc. that have their own cards?
