Windows Virtual PC and XP Mode will NOT install.

Solution
Give it one more try. First insure that your W7 is validated and cookies are enabled.

You must fully uninstall both XP mode and the update KB958559 (Virtual PC mode) before starting the new install.

Then follow THIS guide to clean out old components and do the new install. And use Internet Explorer to do it, not FF or Chrome.

What version of Windows 7 were you trying to install this into -- it must be Pro, Ultimate, or Enterprise. It will not work with Home.

It also does not work with other versions of Windows, such as 10. There are other ways to run an XP version in W10 and others but it is more involved and requires you to have a distinct WinXP image and valid key.

Windows 7 Professional. I have read ALL the information that I can find and there is no reason that I know of that this shouldn't work on my computer. Very frustrated!!

I would insure that all the components are uninstalled and try again using the WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe installer (the top choice HERE after the red button). You should download a new installer in case your version got corrupted somehow.

I've installed it many times and not had any issues.

I have done that about 10 times now! Each time I get to almost the end of the install and I get the error message "unable to complete the setup. Why is this happening? I have space and I followed all the instructions many times.

In your programs and features control panel click on the "view installed updates" in the upper left area. Then you will see all installed updates and you just have to hunt it down out the big list of updates.
