Why does my second hard drive when plugged in increase the bios boot time by loads

Hi

When my hard drive is plugged in it makes my bios sometimes take 100 seconds to load. I unplugged it and it went back down to 10 secs. I am giving the hard drive a long format to see if that helps. But why else would this happen? Could it be damaged?

It could be damaged. If the BIOS is having a hard time initializing the hard drive, it will slow boot up time.

Is your boot order set properly?
Perhaps the bios is looking at the second drive first and taking a long time to discover that there is no os there.

It’s a dodgy hard drive. I formatted it and then double checked the bios and the ssd is set to load first. Took the hard drive out and instant bios load again. I’ll take it back I get a / year warranty with it
