I'm looking to sell a old mac pc running 10.5.8 I can't enter in to the option to clean and reset by holding control r is there anyway other then using a disc to clear it?

Solution
Those old Macs didn't have the recovery partitions or internet recovery as newer macs do. You need the OS X Leopard DVD. That Leopard DVD must be a retail version. Don't get the grey disk unless it is marked for your specific model of Mac. The grey disk is model specific.

You could also create a bootable USB flash drive install disk. But you would still need the Leopard DVD to create it from.

You can also delete all the apps you put on the computer. Create a new admin and then delete any other users and the home folder. I did this for someone's Mac and it worked well. Just created a new admin user and deleted ll other users.

If one were to do this. They would be well advised to at least wipe free areas of the HDD with CCleaner or similar program. There is still the risk of some personal info and licenses remaining in the System and Library folders. Pretty much anything which runs 10.5 is too old and too new to be worth the hassle. Unless it is some especially collectible model.
