Just recently my internet was working until my internet cord came out of the router, usually as i do i put it back in but when i put it back in i wasn't getting a connection it said 'Unidentified Network'. To make sure it was just the Ethernet cord with the problem i tried the wireless and the wireless worked. im not sure what to do is it the reltek family controller, the troubleshooting sure doesn't help the problem either. I do remember a while ago i had the same problem but i can't exactly remember what i did, when i do go into the network connections it says under local area connection "unidentified network, shared"

While Windows 7 unidentified networks can be a real pain, one potentially very quick way to solve it is to change your device software MAC address using THIS free tool.

Of course I would first insure that the cable is intact and also try another LAN port on the router/switch after insuring that the device manager indicates that the Ethernet adapter drivers are working.
