Question about what to do after cloning to new ssd

I’m in the process of cloning my hdd to a new ssd in order to migrate the os without doing a fresh install. Once that’s complete and I make sure it boots properly I need to know the next step. Can I just delete everything off the ssd that I don’t want on there. I want just the os and some steam games on my ssd and everything else on the hdd. If I delete unnecessary files from my ssd, will they still be accessed normally since they already exist on the hdd? Or does the hdd need to be reformatted and then manually move everything back to it?

Be sure you "uninstall" the pgms from the SSD rather than simply "delete" them.
Once removed from the OS's registry on the SSD, they will no longer be accessible again even if they are on the HDD. They will have to be re-installed anew.

There is a work-around for Steam games, however. They can be moved to the SSD if you have the room. http://

yeaah things will began to break or corrupt if copyingcloning stuff from a hdd to ssd vise versa. you would need to backup important data such as. Personal files media Dcuments game saves etc then do a fresh install on the ssd

Agree with the above^^^. Another thing to consider is even if the OS is now on the SSD (set the SSD to be the first boot device in your BIOS), it still resides on the HDD also. Not a problem in and of itself, but it will be taking up space. I would format the HDD AFTER you complete the image cloning and verify that the system boots into Windows with ONLY the SSD connected. Of course, power off the computer before disconnecting or connecting the SSD/HDD.

At the end of the cloning process, you NEED to power off, disconnect the old drive, and allow the system to try to boot from the new drive by itself.

You will need to take the backup first and then delete your files which aren't required.
