So the other day I ordered a Seagate BarraCuda 3TB hard drive. Today it just came in the mail, so I booted up the Windows 10 installer from a USB. I created a new partition out of the empty space (which showed up as 3TB), but as that was working it had failed half way though, and 750 GB of the 3TB remained as "unallocated". I tried creating a partition out of that, but it failed every time. So I just continued the installation on the stuff that had worked. While the installer was running the hard drive was making really strange clicking noises, so I cancelled the installation and booted into windows on my second hard drive to see if I could manually partition it myself. When I opened the windows partition manager it had recognized the new disk, and asked me to create a new partition table. I tried creating a new one, however it gave me the "I/O" error message. I also noticed that the hard drive was only being recognized as 3GB, not 3TB. I booted into a live USB with Manjaro on it, and KDE partition manager told me the same.
Is my hard drive faulty? Do I have to send it back for a new one? What can I do?
