I have an older circa 2006/7 asus am2 mb. Currently running an Athlon x2 64 3800+ I bought back in the day. I current bios is 1004. Currently using onboard video and one PCI slot for an audio card. The board says socket AM2. After going out to the asus website They list of mind boggling amount of CPU options for upgrade all of course out of Chronological order. I’m running XP pro sp3. The easiest website says I can run a ALL 5005GO
Phenom X4 9600 (HD960ZWCJ4BGD),2.3GHz,95W,rev.B2,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core. After doing some reading and research i’m completely clueless about what would be substantial CPU improvement for this motherboard. Do I go with the fastest dual core? Under XP would for cores even help me?
This system is used 100% for digital audio recording and editing. I’m using ProTools,acid,sound Forge. Are use waves plug-ins and guitar rig. Thanks for the help in advance I was smart back in the day and bought two identical replacement motherboard for this I keep in a box. This system is still unbelievably useful for me and recording and editing and quite frankly I prefer it over my MacBook Pro. I’m a PC guy at heart always have been.
