Upgrading to a i5 3470 worth it?

I have a i3 3220 with a lga 1155 mobo from 2014 without overclocking support + 8gb ddr3 ram. I found a i5 3470 for cheap.

Is it worth the upgrade or will not make much difference? I was thinking of waiting for the new gen intel cpus which are rumored to have hyperthreading and the volta gpus by the end of the year so i'm not sure.

I would wait. most games are still single threaded, that's why Intel, with its higher IPC is still the gaming king.

It depends on your uses if you you'll even notice the difference of a faster CPU. Whether or not it is worth it. Depends on your uses and how cheap it is.

As I don't know the price or your uses. I could not say. It is 10% faster in single core tasks (not noticeable) and 60% faster in quad core tasks (quite noticeable).

1. Price is about $107 which is a steal here. I can also get a 3570 for $122. Is the 3570 worth the extra bucks?
2. Uses: Mostly gaming and web browsing

I don't know if i should grab either of those or wait until the end of the year to do a full system upgrade (cpu/mobo/ram/gpu/ssd/case).

Yes that will be the best. I will hoard more money and get a new setup provided that:
1. a 9 gen i5 with hyper threading comes at the end of the year
2. SSD and RAM prices drop
3. Nvidia releases the 2050 ti and it has 1060 6gb performance or better

Thank you all for your help.
