Hello, ive had my PC for a while now but never really used it much for gaming. I just recently purchased a Nvidia GTX 1060 gaming x 6gb graphics card. I also have 16gb ram and a amd fx 6300 cpu. My motherboard is MSI Ms-7641 micro. This was all in my pc when i got it except for the new grahpics card and i added 8gb of ram. Is this ok for modern games or is there something i should upgrade more. Ive tried playing games like GTA V it worked fine but it would drop to 10fps for a few seconds when i walked into a new area. (at maxed settings). Also i hear my cpu should be able to be overclocked but i cannot find anywhere if my motherboard can work with that. Can anyone help me with this.

Solution
If you are fine with how games are handling for you right now, then you can wait(you could always lower graphical settings). You will need a new motherboard for the Ryzen processors as they are AM4 based, whereas your current CPU is AM3+ based(not compatible). It would also mean you would have to get DDR4 memory as DDR3 memory is not compatible either.

AM3/AM3+ processors in general are considered "out dated" by today's standards. Your video card is fine, but I'd probably recommend upgrading the Cpu/motherboard/memory when you get a chance to.

AM4 & 1151 based systems are the standard now. With the Ryzen 2 CPU's around the corner, the prices have dropped on current Ryzen CPU's. A Ryzen 7 1700 for instance is an excellent CPU and handles new games just fine.

So You're saying i should upgrade the cpu and motherboard? Is it a pretty big deal that i should work on. or is it something that can wait for a while. Also if i decide to get a Ryzen will i have to upgrade my motherboard first?
