Forgot To Turn Off Power Supply

I forgot to turn off my psu switch when I plugged my pc back in. I heard a pop sound from the outlet not inside the pc. I hear the pop from other outlets sometimes when I plug other things in. I think its somewhat normal. Everything booted fine and games run fine. The psu was a cheap high power brand that's since been replaced with an evga b2 850. My concern is could I have damaged anything? Could there be damage that will slowly reveal itself later on?

Solution
I don't know that a "pop" from an outlet is normal. I've never heard such a sound.

It almost sounds like arcing (electricity jumping a short gap) but frankly I have no idea.

There's normally no reason to worry about the PSU switch being off or on. It's mainly to protect the rest of the PC in case of some overload (due to short or whatever).

Good PSU's also have Overvoltage and Overcurrent protection to avoid damaging other components and themselves.

I wouldn't worry about the PC, however I would consider consulting someone more knowledgeable in electrical outlets (electrician for example) than I am.

In the end would it also depend on what safety measures that old psu had and if they worked as they where supposed to.Since everything seems to run fine would i not worry too much.
That last question is something you just cannot know, but if anything would have been damaged i think you would have known right after the "pop".

I doubt that 20 dollar high power had any protection of any kind. I thought if you blew out your mobo or cpu that the pc wouldnt boot? I fairly new to this so not sure about the specifics

It should have some basic protections, some are demanded.

That's why we said that you are most likely fine since the system runs fine as you said.
