I am about to buy a i7 8700k (replacing a 3570k) that I can of to at least 5GHz and I am looking at two motherboards:

ASRock Z370 Fatal1ty Gaming K6
ASRock Z370 Extreme4

From what I can see the main difference between these two boards is the K6 supports ASRock Hyper BCLK II Engine whereas the Extreme4 doesn't. Both suport ASRock BCLK Full-range Overclocking.

What beneft would the Hyper BCLK II Engine have with an unlocked 8700k and is it worth the extra cost?

Hyper BCLK Engine II can provide more oc capability. Here is more info and review for both MB. If you don't oc the i7 like crazy, the extreme4 is more than enough.

As they describe "external base clock generator which provides a wider range of frequencies and more precise clock waveforms."
I did good use of the BCLK on their Hyper series overclocking a non K intel CPU. That was good fun.
