Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration

hello,
im trying to run my network wired, but after i turn my virgin media 3.0 Hub in modem mode i can only get one of the 2 Pcs onlinem
the 2nd one keep getting the above massage after i troubleshot it.
the moment i get the Hub in WiFi mode i get both PC online even though they are wired as before with WiFi adapters dicabled.
iv bought a port switch and pluged in as well mut i still get the same problem.
can somebody advice please?

Solution
Turning your Virgin device to a modem will only allow one device to have an IP. If you desire to run it as a modem, then you have to have an external router connected. If you want multiple devices connected to the Virgin Media Hub, then you have to leave it in router mode.
