Can't install Windows 7 because hardware is not supported even though AHCI is enabled

I tried installing Windows 7 but when selecting the disk I want to install it to it says:
"This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOs menu"

I googled this and found that AHCI needed to be enabled in the bios for it to work but when I checked, it already was. I tried clearing the disk of formats and formatting it myself but it won't install to it. The motherboard I have is a Gigabyte GA-990X and the SSD is a Samsung 1TB 850 Evo. Is there any reason it is not installing?
