I am sorry if this is FAQ. I have googled a bit and found answers which were either obsolete or not relevant.

I have currently an Epson XP830 printer. I bought the printer 2 years ago for $50 and till date I have spent more than 400 dollars on ink. I can't do that anymore because it sickens me. I had lot of after market cartridges which used to work. I was stupid enough to update the firmware on the printer and now none of them work.

I see that all printers have cartridges which have chips on them so that they can prevent customers from refilling the cartridge themselves.

I wonder if any Morden day printer doesn't have chipped cartridges.

most all of today printers have chips. the vendors give the ink jet printers away and make the money up on ink tanks. the trick with today printing is use the ink jet for color only printing when needed and pick up a samsung or other laser printer that has the all in one tonner and does duplex printing. i got a samsung small home unit real cheap at staples when it was on sale. i pay about 13.00 for 3 party 1,400 page tonner cartridge thought amazon. (non reman). cost me 4-6 cents per page to print back and white. the printer does duplex and is wifi. it used for whole house printing. the old ink jet only sees color work. the only extra cost is over and under printer stand to hold two printers and paper and ink. then teaching kids and...
