Using Nvidia Shield TV streaming from Synology DS418 (non-play)?

I plan on putting a home media library of movies and music in various formats and resolutions onto a Synology DS418 NAS w/ a WD Red Pro 8TB, and using an Nvidia Shield TV to stream to the familty TV using the NAS files. I've heard that the DS418 doesn't support PLEX due to an uncommon CPU architecture, but would it matter if the Shield would pull the files and play them on its own?

The shield would need to be able to access the media share from the NAS. If that part works it should work. You could probably ask Synology directly to get a confirmation. I'm sure they would help you.
