I was intalling a network card in my hp vectra vl400 pentium 3 1000 with a intel 815 chipset board while it was still plugged in (but not turned on) when i was putting the card in the metal bracket shorted some contacts behind the 1st pci connector between the agp port and the 2nd pci connector. When that happened a relay went off and the cpu fan would spin as long as the contacs were shorted. When i booted the computer all my bios options were reset. Im wondering if i could have shorted somthing important and if my cpu and board will be ok.
even though it posts im a bit of a worry wart so i just want to see if theres anything that can go wrong or if shorting it there shouldnt cause any problems in the future
Thanks!

Solution
If it works, then nothing was damaged. When it stops working (it probably won't last for several more decades), there's no way to determine that was the primary cause.
