Random PC Crashes. Can't tell if GPU or MB

I built this computer new two summers ago. It was my first build. I have moved this system multiple times, and even flown with it. Yes, I made sure it had plenty of cushioning every time. Until last summer, I never support the GPU.

This problem started 1/15. That weekend I had used an Oculus I borrow to run some VR games. It ran with no problems on my system, GPU never really got hot, we had problems setting it up but that was because we did so live on a stream. I returned the VR system on the 14th and the computer ran smoothly all day. The 15th came, and I heard a random bang and my computer started having problems. I'm actually not sure if the bang came from my computer or a lab next door, but that's when I remember it starting.

For a week, my system worked almost like normal. It seemed a bit slower, but I wasn't concerned. Then it just started restarting. For a week after that, I would just turn off my computer, wiggle the GPU a little bit and it came back on. Don't know why. Eventually I decided to move the GPU to another slot. When I did that, the system didn't even power on the GPU. The only other available slot wasn't coming up in the Bios no matter what. So, I moved it back to it's original slot and gave the GPU more support.

Later, a friend and I checked the software side of things. We double checked my CPU OC and made sure it was running stable. We checked the GPU drivers and it seemed like every time the computer reset the drivers were lost. Eventually, after a custom install they stayed, but it was still strange. Eventually the system was working 100% again for some reason.

I have also pulled the GPU out for an hour or so, then put it back in with none of the problems returning for a day or so. I have had multiple blue screens where it says that the OS can't be found. I have had an error where the system booted up perfectly and one of my hard drives was missing. It has had video scheduler internal errors and one other error that shows the signs of bad drivers.

What really has me confused, is what happened when I re-flashed the BIOS. It was the most stable it has been in the past month. I was able to run multiple system benchmarks using 3D mark, Superposition Benchmark, and my normal streaming stress test with no underperformance. Each test showed me to be very capable of sustain 4K gaming at 60 FPS. Yet, today when nothing but chrome and some quality of life programs were running my screen went black and my system reset. It wasn't doing anything intense. I restarted the computer, ran a benchmark for a couple of hours. No problem. Go back to work and the same thing again.

The most logical conclusion would be the GPU. However, I cannot overlook the fact that my MB has been unable to initialize my OS, unable to find a hard drive, couldn't detect a PCIE slot even existing, has had the WIFI module broken for the past year, and work the best when I re-flashed the BIOS. I want to say it's the MB, but I don't have any other computer to stick my GPU into to test and confirm. Thoughts?

System:
CPU - i7 6700k
MB - Asus Z170 deluxe
GPU - Zotac AMP Extreme! GTX 1080
PSU - Corsair RM650
OS - Windows 10

Solution
Simply run the system without the GPU for day or two and check if the problem repeats. If it does then it is not a GPU problem but if it stays stable then yes it is definitely GPU.
