What OC should I aim for

So this week I am finally getting round to building my new Ryzen PC. I have ambient temps of 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.

I am wondering what OC I should aim for.. I know it will vary with the lottery and what not just looking for a guideline as this room is cold all the time.

Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4
3 Fractal Design Case fans
MSI X370 POWER GAMING TITANIUM
G Skill Flare X 3200 16GB (2 x 8GB Dual channel)
Asus Strix ROG 8GB OC edition
EVGA Supernova 650 G2 PSU
Crucial Mx500 SSD
SanDisk Ultra 240GB SSD
WD 1TB 7200RPM

I would like to hit 4.0ghz.. Do you think this is achievable. I have never overclocked before.

You can certainly aim for 4GHz but start at the turbo 3.7 and go up from there it saves the panic of having to reset the bios when it doesn't post, thats what I learned on my ryzen 3 1200 anyway. Hope it helps.

You aim for :
"as high as your particular CPU will go"
Not a specific number.

Increase step by step, thorough testing at each step.

When it fails, back off a step or two.

Excellent. So I should go straight in at 3.7 as that is the turbo boost?

Then increase by 1mhz, post, stress test and when i find the stable point, back off a step.

Thanks, to be honest if I hit 4.0ghz I would stop there i'd be happy with that, even 3.9

To hit 4GHz, you have to raise the voltage to 1.3875 V - 1.4 V
