Hey I want to upgrade my old setup, which is:

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600
Motherboard: ASUSTeK P8H61 R2.0
RAM: 16Gb
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7950
PSU: Be quiet! Pure Power L8 CM 630W

I want to use it mainly for 1080p gaming and software development. And I don't need storage stuff, a case or any peripherals. Quick question on my side: Am I safe to keep the PSU or is a new one better? Thanks..

Solution
How big of a rush are you in? nVidia Volta and the 2nd generation of Ryzen are due out in the next two or three months.

Your PSU is good quality and very well reviewed but old. It supports C6/C7 power states. So, there should be no issues. There are more efficient units available. Even if it is in good shape. At four to five years old. I'd replace it with something new on a new build. Some excellent models include the Corsair RMx and RMi series, EVGA G2 and G3 along with the Seasonic Focus and Focus Plus. There are others but these are some of the easier to find big names. They also have some higher end models which aren't necessary for your needs.

This will get you closer to the 900€ mark. I chose Germany for pricing. I know...

All the Pc parts I list below have prices pulled from newegg. Depending on where you live these prices may vary
GPU:GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 379$
CPU:Ryzen 7 1700 289.99$
RAM:CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB 189.99$
MOBO:MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ARCTIC 119.99$
PSU:EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 119.99$

Your current PSU is tier 3 so i would opt to replace it for a better one for this system, but its up to you
If you have the mullah, i would recommend bumping the RAM speed and amount of ram up

Thanks for the fast reply. What would you recommend if I go a little bit lower with the budget (like 900€ to fit a new case in my budget)? I would like to buy a new case, too. The setup you posted goes higher than 1000€ in the shop that I would buy it from unfortunately. Maybe change the CPU? I'm not an expert in hardware but I read that Intel's 4-core CPUs perform better in games (e.g. i5 8400)

Intels quadcores can't outperform AMDs Ryzen hexacores. That being said the i5 8400 is a hexacore too and is slightly faster than the Ryzen 1600 in gaming though Ryzen has better frametimes.

Oh my mistake, sorry. I heard that the i5 8400 is pretty good for gaming though the Ryzen one outperforms the i5 8400 on multhreaded performance or sth. like this. That said, the posted build is a bit too expensive unfortunately. Any suggestions regarding that? Would it be unproblematic to replace the CPU/MOBO?

This will get you closer to the 900€ mark. I chose Germany for pricing. I know prices vary across the EU but are generally pretty close. It doesn't support overclocking. A stock Core i5 8400 will beat any current generation Ryzen in gaming. Regardless of overclocking. I listed a case because it looks nice and for a price reference. As for the GTX 1060 availability will vary. Just get whatever GTX 1060 6GB you can at the lowest price you can because of the shortage there aren't many options. Some advise waiting. You could be waiting a long time for Cryptominers to stop buying these. Other GPU to look at if you can get a good price GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, AMD Radeon Rx 580 4GB and AMD Radeon Rx 580 8GB. The order of preference from most preferred to least preferred would be GTX 1060 6GB, Radeon Rx 580 8GB, Radeon Rx 580 4GB and GTX 1060 3GB.

I'm not really in a rush but I don't really want to wait 2-3 months for a new setup to be honest :D
Germany is exactly the right place, should've mentioned that. Is there a big difference between the GTX 1060 6Gb versions or am I safe to just get the cheapest one?

I would rather start with a freshly upgraded build rather than just a new gpu.

You should be safe with the cheapest one. There is very little difference in factory clock rates. Which you can change yourself using MSI Afterburner. The single fan and blower style models are louder.
