Hello.. I have an Asus x541sa laptop which I purchased 11 months ago. Lately the laptop keeps shutting down randomly when on battery power. When i connect the ac charger it works just fine. The frequency of shutting down is so random. It may occur 12 times a day, once a day or thrice a week. I have had my ram chip and battery checked and they are fine. The shutting down occurs any time even when the laptop is idle.
It runs 500gb hdd, linux debian os, 4gb ram, intel celeron. Will someone please help. I love the laptop so much

I would suggest checking the power settings.

1. Go to "Control Panel" and then "Power Options".
2. Click on "Change plan settings", next to the plan you are using.
3. Now click "Change advanced power settings".
4. Here you are going to want to check all the options to make sure that nothing is set to make the device turn off or sleep when you don't want it to.
5. Once you have made all your changes, click "Apply" and then "OK" and restart the computer.

Thanks but the problem doesn't seem to be on my settings. I used to think so but then I realized it couldn't be so since I reinstalled windows 10 twice and i am currently running linux debuan using default settings.

I have a x541na and I have the same issue, it has nothing to do with the settings, it just instantly loses power like a blackout, on battery power, unfortunately since I had to manually install a bigger storage device I lost my warrenty, but mine is not too often, mine shuts off at least 1 time every 2 monthes, I have intel Pentium 4gb ram, 960gb sandisk ssd, windows 10 home edition

so your saying it is just the screws?

I have the same problem, and have the same laptop (x541na). laptop turns itself off on battery power. it doesn't happen often. today I was in the class, and had been using it for like 2 hours, then it suddenly turned itself off, then I turned it on again and could manage to make the class, nothing happened after that. but it happened twice like that when I was in the class on one of early days. strangely so far it only happened on battery power mode. also I noticed since recently, when I am watching youtube videos and occasionally being on chrome the battery percentage randomly fluctuates like 5%, then 10%, then 45%, but then when I stopped watching it, it stopped and returned the power back to wherever it was. it happens when the laptop is on battery mode, and AC mode both. I adjusted the settings as the guy said above, but there is no option to take no actions when the laptop is on battery mode, only when it's AC mode. I left it to do nothing. I dunno what to do, I suspect the battery sucks of this laptop. I regret of buying this garbage. :( it's slow as hell. on top of that now this problem.

don't fix it at home if you have warranty, because opening the cover during warranty period voids its warranty. so better go to the vendor and fix it. however, if the warranty is expired, then you have many options. either go to a trustworthy repair shop,or fix it at home, but you may have to change the battery. I think you can purchase asus batteries from the official agent in your country. I think fix it at home is good if you have skills, and confident, otherwise you may end up breaking more things. some repair shops might not be trustworthy. this guy who owns the nearby shop stole my PSU of the computer, and said his dad threw it away thinking it's a broken one when it's disassembled, he never gave me it. I could have reported to cops, but I didn't because I didn't want to waste any more time. he wasted like 4 weeks by keeping it from time to time in his shop for repair. if it dragged to police, to court, then I wouldn't be able to do my college works. so I bought another PSU since it's not that expensive.
