I have always run my laptop on Wireless Connection. Recently (about 2 weeks ago) when I first turn on my laptop for the day I get an asterik (yellow star) in my Network Bar. I checked on line and found just about everyone suggesting going into Network Sharing and removing that Network - restarting computer and reconnecting to my network - which I did and all was good that day. The issue seems to be that every time I power off the laptop and power back on I get this yellow asterik - about 90% of the time if I connect to net anyway I get a message saying my connection is not secure. I have tried to everything thru research on the net to get this to stop doing this permanently, but nothing is working - still there each time I turn on computer. I can get into the internet and on all my pages that I have tried in last 2 weeks, but I just am not getting why this asterik is there when it never was before - I have changed nothing on my computer at all. I run virus and spyware at least every few days. We have been using the same modem/router for not quite a year and there are other computers, tablets, phones, etc. using the same network and modem/router and no one else seems to have these issues - or at least haven't noticed them. I am really at my wits end with this.....I want this gone and my security back!! Any help is appreciated - thank you,

I'm assuming you are using Windows 10. Please type "Network Status" in the windows search/Cortana box and hit enter. In the status window that comes up, the first link below your network diagram should be "Change connection properties". Click that. Your network profile should come up with 2 radio buttons ... public and private. If it is set to public, please change it to private.

Have you tried rebooting your router? Like any device, those can mess up and restarting (pull the power plug, wait 20 seconds, plug it back in) can help.

If that does not help, please list the laptop model number, windows version, and your router model number.

Hello - I am sorry - I should have specified what I am running - I have a Toshiba Satellite L675 (says part # psk3au-08902S) running Windows 7. Once everyone gets off their tablets and computers I can run a reboot of the router. I will have to get the router # (it's a Century Link-and have to take it off a shelf to get model #)
- it's downstairs and I have to get it and write it down. This just started late last week - never was an issue before. Thank you.
