So I used to use an EGPU setup using the EXP GDC BEAST v8.0 connected to my laptop via mini pcie with a gtx 1060 3gb. I saved up money to buy a new full desktop pc and used the gpu from my EGPU settup for it (everything went smoothly). But now it seems that my laptop can't recognize the old gt630m built in. Everything else works great but I can't open games on the laptop. I don't have it will me but I pretty much just get an error code and the game doesn't launch. I assume for every game but I didn't test all of them. When I right click on desktop Nvidia control panel doesn't show up and ive reinstalled all graphics drivers. It isn't a huge problem because I don't use it for gaming anymore and I can use pretty much anything else, its just confusing to why no games will launch and why I can't access the nvidia control panel. Any help would be much appreciated.

is the Egpu plugged in, turned on when you are trying to do this? If so it's probably just switching the the external GPU as default. If the egpu comes with software you may be able to correct that. If thats not the case, then maybe re-installing the laptop manufacturers latest GPU driver might help with getting it working again.

Otherwise consider a driver un-install/fresh install. Use something like DDU and clean it out, before re-installing the drivers, and see how you get on.

Report back.

edit: apologies. Just realised, the egpu isn't plugged in and your using the GPU in your new system. Despite that, the rest still stands.

Any questions, let me know. We can progress, once you've tried the driver update.

it what you say is true and it doesn't have any drivers for the GPU installed then tha'ts why no games will launch because it is using the generic video drivers from windows. when you removed the external GPU dock from your laptop did you uninstall the nvidia drivers that were meant for the 1060?

agree with that. the gt630m has specific drivers, which is not included in the desktop variant.

@ OP, try this driver, see if it works :https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/130637

Nothing is plugged into the laptop. The EGPU is taken out and te wifi card was put back in. I haven't used DDU (I don't think) I will try that. Is there a way the BIOS could be a problem because I needed to change some if it to get he card to work? (I changed it back but you never know).

I want to keep this thread alive because I still have the problem but don't have the time to finish it until later today or thursday. Thanks for the suggestions and i'll get back shortly.

It's possible it's a bios issue. You can try reverting to an older BIOS, or resetting the current BIOS to default. See if it helps.
