I have a system with an FX 8150 processor. I use my PC for audio production. I recently installed an SSD in hopes of making my system faster. I use the SSD as a sample library. My system is so slow that I get mouse trails that stay on stuck windows until I click on the x to close the window. Then and only then does the system refresh the window and I am on the next instruction.

I have an evo 960 drive that AI can't use because my motherboard doesn't support NvME.

Should I upgrade the motherboard or buy a new system?

Thanks

Solution

the motherboard is a 970 chipset. It has sata 3
what exactly do you do for the audio protection? i don't see why your PC should be slow. Are you use your hard drives are ok?

And as for a new motherboard good luck. AM3+ Motherboards disappeared VERY quickly since Ryzen was way faster. I know i got one of the few boards for the AM3+ That supported M.2 and NVMe.

Thanks for your answer.

I do multitrack audio recording. I have run some diagnostics on the drives and they appear to be healthy. Do you know of a disk diagnostic that is particularly thorough?

the bios version is from 2011. Has the pc been running for 6 years? If so, it's about time to replace the hdd.

It's most likely that you're using a program that eats your memory, and you're is running off the page file stored on a slowly dying hard drive.

SSD is the best main drive you can get but you will need SATA3 to install at the fastest speed. 2011 can mean SATA2 and that is not going to ad much just 3x a regular hdd.
