Planing on pairing it with a 1050ti for now.(RIP GPU PRICING :()

Mostly for games, but im planning on doing video editing once in a while.

Yes. It is better overall with multitasking since it has more cores. And 3xxxMhz RAM and a B350 motherboard are fine. I wouldn't recommend lower than 8GB of RAM and always, I mean ALWAYS, run dual channel. Don't get a single stick ever. I recommend 16GB of RAM personally for video editing at 1080p and in general for gaming since games are starting to become more RAM hungry the larger the game worlds (especially if it's open world) and generally the more stuff they start cramming into these new games the more that needs to be stored in the RAM to be called upon at a moments...

Just like ArchitSahu said. If you were going for straight gaming then Intel would do you wonders and is a little bit better overall than Ryzen but if you plan to do anything like video editing then Ryzen is what you should pick. The performance difference when gaming is negligible and not enough to make it a worse choice. But Ryzen will do you wonders better than the Intel chip when video editing and such that takes advantage of the increased core count. Just don't forget to overclock the Ryzen chip. Also, in case you're not aware, Ryzen works best with faster RAM so 2666Mhz at the least for optimal performance. 3000Mhz is better and 3200Mhz is best. you are not going to overclock much higher than about 4.0Ghz with the stock cooler so I recommend investing into something better. a Hyper 212 Evo at the least. Just make sure whatever cooler you buy has mounting hardware for the AM4 socket. Also, when buying Ryzen don't get get a motherboard with an A320 chipset. Only B350 on the affordable end or an X370 on the higher end. You won't be able to overclock with an A320 chpset.

So to sum it up:
Fast RAM (about 3000mhz)
An aftermarket cooler for better overclocks
and a B350 chipset motherboard for overclocking ability.

keep these things in mind when picking parts for your Ryzen build.

P.S. - You can check your local used market for a GPU. I know that here in souther California I can find a 1050ti for about $200 on places like Letgo, Offerup and Craigslist.
