Upgrade GPU or CPU for gaming (PUBG)

Hey all!

My question is -

'Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU if I want better FPS in games, like PUBG?'

Current spec -

i7 875k OC to 4.1ghz
16gb DDR3 1600mhz
GTX 1060 6GB

I am either thinking of upgrading to the Ryzen 5 1600 or i5 8400, or I could possibly upgrade to the GTX 1070ti which is currently on sale at Novatech for around £420 (when stock comes in).

Also, as a separate question, which CPU would be the better of the two? I have read soooo many articles which basically put the i5 8400 slightly ahead on FPS even when the Ryzen is OC to 4ghz, so clearly this would be a better choice for a gamer like me, however I also appreciate that the AM4 platform is going to last at least until 2020.

I also have a 29inch ultra wide with 75hz (1080p)

:)

Solution
Minimum system requirements for PUBG are a Intel Core i3-4340 / AMD FX-6300, recommended are AMD Ryzen 5-1600 / Intel Core i5-7600K. Your cpu is holding you back right now, upgrade the CPU, MB, and ram
Really, I would go for the 8400 if only gaming, with that 1070Ti if you can buy it fast enough considering that price is really good in today's climate.

But, if you do not mind trading a few FPS for costs savings, then go for the Ryzen platform if it is cheaper for you.

Hi ArchitSahi, and thank you for taking the time to help.

I can't afford to do both, so I am looking for someone to help me decide whether I upgrade my entire platform along with DDR4 RAM and new CPU, or if the i7875k is fine and I should instead upgrade to a GTX 1070 or ti?

CPU or GPU upgrade for FPS :) ???

Then go for the CPU, Mobo and RAM upgrade.

Gaming wise the 8400 would probably do slightly better, if your going to be multi tasking while gaming.... streaming or recording game play then the ryzen would be better.

@Rob how do you like your build? Just picked up the same setup yesterday and should be here tomorrow.

Yeah really good pal, very pleased.... that said, is it noticably quicker than my overclocked 2600k? not really
That said, I upgraded because i wanted to, not because I needed to. And when I buy a faster GPU, im sure the 8700k will prove its worth. :)

I know what you mean, my system is doing just fine just felt the bug to upgrade.

Just picked up,
i7 8700k
Asus Maximus X Hero
G.skill TridentZ 16GB 3200Mhz
960 Evo M.2 500GB
Cryorig R1 Ultimate (not sure if it will clear the ram but i do have their thin fan to replace the front fan in not)
2 LG 27" 4K monitors

And ill move over my GTX 980SC, Sound Blaster ZxR, and 1200w PSU from my old build in my sig, hoping to sang a new card when the get released this year before the miners take them all. Will probably hand the 4760k build down to my brother to replace his old 1366 system that was once mine as well.
