Hello all,

As the title says i am interested in buying a new cpu but it doesnt come with a cooler at all.
It is used but it looks good. Currently i have Intel Pentium G2030 (whatever ppl say about it i think its a beast) and i would like to get my hands on a i5 3570. I have H61M-K mobo and i know that the socket is right but im not sure if the G2030's cooler can handle the new one. I need help with that info and i dont want to risk frying my whole rig. Also i heard some stuff about BIOS not being the same version so i would like to know whats up with that? Currently my bios is v0801 and the i5 3570 is 0306. Can all of that work together nicely?

Thanks in advance

Nice. I didn't know that. I've always bought K-series so I had no idea there was more than one version of the Intel Cooler. Thanks mod.

Knowing that now I would say invest in a better cooler. It will last you longer than the CPU will before you want to upgrade again. And should fit several different sockets, including AM4.

Hyper 212 Evo is fine, but the Cryorig H7 is $5 more and cools significantly better.

The Intel stock cooler will handle pretty much anything at stock (no OC) just fine. As long as the socket fits it should work. (1150, 1151, 1155, 1156 If I remember correctly)

If you do happen to run into problems I would get a Cryorig H7. Very good budget cooler.

As Epick says the stock fan will work at stock speed and the bios version is the last one so it will work just fine, the stock cooler coulde be a bit loud or louder than it previously were if thats a problem for you you can get a new cooler if that doesnt matter to you just use the one you alredy have.

Thank you very much. That sounds good. I am not planning on OC and the stock cooler would be working for about a month or 2 before i get a new one, hopefully something that can cool it the way it is supposed to be cooled. Need to get a HDD in the meantime. I hear the scratch sound. Did the backup already just in case. PLanning on buying the WD Black 1TB, i heard its great for gaming and faster than the other colors WD has.

NO. The cooler will fit, that is not in doubt. This is not difficult to stuff to research people.

However the 3570 is a 77W CPU the G2030 is a 55W processor. https://ark.intel.com/compare/74749,65702

Looking further down the page you'll see that the use C and D versions of the cooler, what this means is that the cooler on the 3570 is taller and is able to dissipate more heat, using the smaller cooler on the 3570 will have it running hot.

Didn't know the price gap was so close, go cryorig then.
