Poor MOBO, air cooled, thinking of overclocking and looking for input on potential modifications

OK, so first off let me say I have the infamous GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev 6, yes I know it's a piece of crap, when I first built this computer about 4 years ago I was(and am) on an extremely limited budget.

Otherwise, I have the FX6300, 2x8GB DDR3 Corsair, GTX950, 1 SSD/1 HDD, a 500W PSU, and 2 corsair 120mm 12v's split on the sole case fan header. I plan on getting an entire new rig eventually(hopefully in the next 1-2 years, waiting for the market to settle down among other things) but at the moment I'm looking for components to eek out more performance from my current rig, that I can cannibalize for my next rig.

So. I just ordered the Evo 212(have been running on stock CPU cooler, hence not wanting to even try overclocking) and two Molex-3 pin adapters. Like I said, I know this is a borderline obsolete rig. But, my plan here is-
1) Replace the stock CPU fan with the Evo 212.
2) Fasten the stock CPU fan as a supplementary fan(I don't mind the db), but still go ahead and rig it to the single case fan header so it gets controlled speed.
3) Give the 2 corsair fans each a dedicated Molex line from the PSU to avoid excessive draw on the MOBO.
4) Tweak overclocking CPU/GPU until hitting power consumption threshold.
5) When budget next allows, upgrade PSU to a higher wattage and repeat step 4 until I max out performance at ~60C.

My questions are:
1) Would this work?
2) Are there any improvements or words of caution regarding this setup you'd recommend short of immediately ordering new parts?
3) What wattage would you recommend for the eventual part upgrade?

I'd ask, please try to avoid trash talking the rig unless absolutely critical to your response, I'm on an extremely limited budget and I'm trying to work with what I have.

Solution
My former Gigabyte ga-870a-ud3 needed additional cooling due to high OC and i just hot glued (carfully) 50MM fans directly on VRM and NB coolers, that fixed overheating.
On GA-990XA-UD3 only on NB.
Only problem with that MB is poor VRM, you might have to cool it separately, has a pcie gen 1NB is also known to run hot and may need own fan. A 50mm fan would do it good.
Don't have to worry about fans drawing too much power from MB. PSU wouldn't be problem either, although TDP jumps quite a bit when OC-ing it's just few Watts of electrical power higher than on stock.

4. is the problem, you can overclock the video card all you can but that motherboard is not really made for overclocking it will probably not hold up or be unstable.

GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev 6, yes I know it's a piece of crap, I would not say it's a piece of crap! It is a decent budget motherboard that functions but is not made for overclocking.

Thank you to both of you, it's just tricky trying to work with these restrictions sometimes heh. Would you recommend installing the 50mm as an intake from the top blowing down? Or should I switch my exhaust to intake and use the 50mm as exhaust? https://imgur.com/ZTxVnPY
